Welcome to the online home of
The Victoria Chapter of the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
|
The
Victoria Chapter of the Canadian Cystic
Fibrosis Foundation (CCFF) works to:
| • |
raise
funds to support cystic fibrosis (CF) research
for a cure, |
| • |
provide
supplementary funding to support the local
cystic fibrosis medical clinic on Vancouver
Island, |
| • |
provide
information, support and advocacy to families
affected by cystic fibrosis, |
| • |
and
to raise awareness about the impact of cystic
fibrosis in Victoria and the surrounding
area. Cystic fibrosis is a genetically inherited
lung and pancreatic disorder that affects
over 50 families in Victoria and many more
on Vancouver Island. In the lungs, where
the effects of the disease are most devastating,
cystic fibrosis causes increasingly severe
respiratory problems. Most persons with cystic
fibrosis eventually die of lung disease.
The mean age of survival as of 2004 is 37.0
years. |
